Bone marrow myelogram assessments (full, modified & M:E ratios)
Full Myelogram Assessments
- Manual slide evaluation.
- Performed under oil immersion by counting a minimum of 500 intact nucleated myeloid, erythroid, and lymphoid cells.
- Any notable abnormalities of the sample and evaluated cell lines are recorded, megakaryocytes numbers are assessed and an M:E ratio calculated.
- Performed by a certified clinical pathologist.
Modified Myelogram Assessment
- Manual slide evaluation.
- Performed by counting a minimum of 300 intact hematopoietic nucleated cells classified into proliferative (mitotic) or mature (non-mitotic) erythroid or myeloid cell populations or lymphocytes.
- Any notable abnormalities of the sample and evaluated cell lines are recorded, megakaryocytes numbers are assessed and an M:E ratio calculated.
- Performed by a certified clinical pathologist.
Myeloid-Erithroid (M:E) Ratio
- Manual slide evaluation.
- M:E ratio evaluation of the bone marrow smear(s) is conducted by counting a minimum of 300 total cells of the erythroid and myeloid series and lymphocytes.
- # Myeloid Cells (M)/# Erythroid Cells (E )= M:E ratio
